Although I agree with Mr. Williams, he focuses on the black community. Whites in the lower income and job skilled brackets face the same challenges.
Although he thinks he is being cute, wkruk1979 and people who think like him need black people to be impoverished and dependant because it empowers people like him.

Separate from wkruk1979’s bad grammar and spelling, he has zero understanding of free markets and laws. His “Kiddie Porn” line is a poor example because the purpose of laws is to protect people from being harmed by others. That’s why some labor laws are good.
Even Robert Reich, no friend of the free market, agreed that minimum wage laws hurt poor people the most.

a 12 year old can benefit greatly from learning a strong work ethic and what it means to have responsibilities. This doesn’t take 40 hours a week, and can even be done at home. But if a parent wants their child to learn skills in the workplace there should be no barrier placed by the government.

The answer is complex, but in general terms, without a minimum wage the costs of goods and services go down and you are able to buy more with your money. The added benefit being better service and more people inside of the workforce creating more wealth. While $1 an hour is unrealistic in this economy, a 12 year old stocking shelves is not worth $8 an hour are they? Removing the minimum wage will also allow employers to disperse pay based on merit, not a head count.
